BELOW YOU WILL FIND EVERYTHING YOU NEED: INSTRUCTIONS, A COPY OF THE STORY YOU CAN ANNOTATE ON, AND THE "PORTRAIT OF A PSYCHOPATH" ARTICLE. YOU CAN DO YOUR WORK DIRECTLY ON THE FILE YOU OPEN, SAVE IT TO YOUR DRIVE, AND SHARE IT WITH ME. YOU MAY ALSO PRINT IT OUT AND DO IT ON PAPER.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR BEGINNING THE TELL TALE HEART
1) Begin with The Tell Tale Heart:
a. For each underlined vocabulary word, find a definition, draw and arrow to the annotations section and write the definition there in your own words. (It is easiest to go to thesaurus.com. This will give you a list of words that means the same as the one you looked up. Pick a word you know as your definition).
b. Read The Tell Tale Heart on your own: Do not take notes or annotate at this time, simply read the story.
2) Move on to the Characteristics of a Serial Killer
a. Complete the side of the anticipation guide that says BEFORE READING
b. Read the questions written on the right side of the article.
c. Read the article and answer the questions as you read.
d. Return to the anticipation guide and complete the AFTER READING and TEXT BASED REASON sections.
3) Return to The Tell Tale Heart
a. Read the story again.
i. As you are reading, annotate anything that connects to the Characteristics of a Serial Killer article.
ii. Pay special attention to what supports or contradicts what makes a serial killer. Remember, you will be trying to prove that the TTH narrator is either a cold blooded killer (based on the article) or insane (based on the article).
